Our History

• Pakistan Animal Quarantine Ordinance was promulgated in 1979
• Pakistan Animal Quarantine Rules were formed in 1980
• Animal Quarantine Station at Karachi was established through a development project in 1980
•Animal Quarantine Station in federal and provincial capitals (Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta) were established between 1980-88.
• AQD was established as an attached department of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock in 1987
• Animal Quarantine Station at Multan was established in 1990
• Animal Quarantine Station at Sialkot got functional in 2000-01
• Laboratory for detection of drug residues in animal products was functionalized in 2000-01 at Karachi
• AQD was later attached to Ministry of Livestock & Dairy Development from 2008-2011 (April)
• AQD was made a part of Ministry of Commerce from May, 2011- October, 2011
• Since October, 2011 AQD is functioning as attached department of Ministry of National Food Security & Research
